Self-Care Series: Skincare Routine with Wildflower

Happy Thursday! I hope you are having a great week. I recently started a self-care series and wanted to continue with some of my daily self-care routine. Skincare has always been super important to me and I love trying and reviewing products to share with you. I recently started trying the Wildflower beauty by Jessica  and absolutely been loving her products. I love that her products are all natural ingredients and are locally handmade. One of my favorite products from her line is the anti-aging and anti-wrinkle face oil. Not only do I love the smell because it smells like lavender, but my skin feels refreshed after I use it. It's blended with the best ingredients and I love that it's perfect for all skin-types. I have really dry skin and I feel my skin feels moist and refreshed the next morning. I've been adding this to my night time routine and it has definitely become a game changer for my skin. I also love that the ingredients are organic and 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils. If you're looking for anti-aging and anti-wrinkle skin regiment, I highly recommend this oil and the best part it is fairly inexpensive and super easy to use. Just a few drops does wonders to my skin.
Another item that I've been loving is the Matcha Face mask which is an antioxidant-rich detoxifying and hydrating mask that rejuvenates your skin. It's a green tea formulated ingredient that helps make sure skin feel smooth after unclogging your pores. I love that the ingredients are gentle so that it doesn't over dry your skin. I'm also obsessed with the smell of green tea on my skin.

Lastly, I have tried the Match Sugar scrub and I love that it's an antioxidant-rich detoxifying and hydrating scrub that helps rejuvenate and brighten my skin. What makes it different than other scrub is the green tea ingredients which helps with not over drying my skin.

I highly recommend these products and have been trying it out for a few weeks and have already seen major results in my skin. I also have a discount code you can use at checkout for 15% off your purchase on any item on her website. Just use code:SUSAN15 at checkout. Also, stay tuned for a fun giveaway coming up with these amazing products on Thursday!

A big thanks to Wildflower by Jessica for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own!

Happy Memorial Weekend! I hope you are having fun celebrating this long weekend with your love ones. We had a pretty busy Memorial weekend. On Friday, my youngest son, Ashton graduated from Pre-K and it was definitely a bitter sweet moment. I can't believe he's finally going to Kindergarten this year. I'm so proud of how resilient he is been since me moved to Arizona in February. He has changed two schools since we moved here. It was a rough transition at first, but I finally think he is finally settling down and getting accumulated with living here. It was the cutest thing to see him sing during his preschool performance. I can't wait to see how he does in Kindergarten. I am definitely looking forward to having both my boys in the same school.
Today, we a hung out by the pool and went to a water park close to our house.  The boys had so much fun!The weather was perfect and I finally got into this pool. I'm not looking forward to triple digit weather and enjoying the beautiful weather we have been experiencing here in Phoenix everyday that I can.

Self-Care Series: Why Everyone Needs a Personal Trainer?!

SHOP THE POST

Happy Wednesday! Anyone else having a challenging week? This week has definitely been dragging for me and I'm hoping that this post will help keep me motivated as well as shift my mind set. I definitely need to hit the reset button so that I can refocus and reboot.  I'm also going to start a self-care series on my blog that will talk about ways I practice self-care. If you have been following me on Instagram Stories, you know I have recently started working with a personal trainer. First of all, I wanted to put out a disclaimer that I am a pretty active. I workout about 3 times a week at the gym and I take group classes like weight lifting and yoga and have been since I had my kids. I also worked out very frequently before I had my boys. Therefore, my goal for working with a personal trainer was NOT to lose weight, but to focus on "ME". In fact, when I met up with Will (my personal trainer at PNP Fitness) I told him my goal was to gain weight because I had lost so much weight when I was going through a difficult time last year. I did not like how my body look like or how I felt, my clothes were too loose and I felt disgusting. I did not like looking in the mirror because I saw someone who wasn't me. Long story short, I wanted to look and feel like myself again.

Before I started working with a personal trainer, I was very skeptical. In my mind, I felt like I didn't need one since I could work out at the gym. I couldn't justify spending extra money just to have one on one attention on me. Boy, was I wrong! The benefits of personal training is worth every penny, because at the end of the day you are investing in yourself. I only started working with my personal trainer, Will at PNP (Progress Not Perfection) for three sessions. In those short sessions, I learned so much about myself than I ever did working out at a gym. Will developed specific workouts that were tailored to me goals. One of the benefits of a personal trainer is someone to hold you accountable. At each of our meeting, Will would check my phone for the fitness app which tracks my meals to make sure I ate enough calories and a balanced diet to achieve the goal that I wanted.

Another benefit of having a personal trainer is having a cheerleader and someone to push you and encourage you to reach your fullest potential. At our last training session, I didn't think I could lift 12 pounds for shoulder presses. Will really pushed me out of my comfort zone. He told me that I could do it,  of course I didn't believe him, but at the end, I was able to prove myself wrong. It was the best feeling ever to do something that you think you can't do. If I was at the gym, I would have easily given up and went for the lighter weights.

If you are thinking about hiring a personal trainer, I definitely would recommend one! Finding a good one can be tricky. I suggest finding someone that listens to what you want! Also to not be afraid to speak up if things aren't working out the way you want or like. Make sure that your goals are from YOU. Most importantly, I highly suggest finding someone you are comfortable with because it makes all the difference.

At the end of the day, whatever your goals may be-fitting into the jeans that you love, feeling confident in a bathing suit, or just wanting to lose a few extra pounds, make sure you are doing it for YOU and no one else.  Because you should be proud of yourself, for taking care of YOU is the first step in self-care.

If you are in the Gilbert area, I highly recommend checking PNP fitness @Fitnesspnp on Instagram and asking for Will to set up a personalized plan just for you. I look forward to going to my personal training classes because I know that I am focused on myself and it's my "me" time to reboot and reset.  Also, make sure to follow along my Instagram Story to checkout my workouts. I also posted on a fitness tab on my highlight of all my workouts and personal training. If you have any questions, please feel free to direct message me on Instagram or shoot me an email.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week ahead. I challenge you to find time for yourself as well! Life's short, what better time than to start now! Now, go do something for YOURSELF! XOXO!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Mother's day! Being a mom is one of the most challenging and rewarding the job in the world. I'm so lucky to have a great relationship with my mom and she is truly my best friend and someone I go to when I need advice, help, or just a shoulder to cry on. I'm hoping that when my boys grow older I have the same relationship with them. It's definitely been challenging moving to a new state, new home, and new school with my boys. They definitely have a love and hate relationship with me. One day that tell me they love me and the next day I'm their worst enemy. I used to get so offended and be upset when they dislike me or tell me that they hate me, but I know it's just part of life. Kids have good days and bad days just like adults do.

I'm slowly learning that kids are just like adults and we forget that they are humans and that they make mistakes like we all do.  Like I mentioned in my previous post, I'm the mom that wants to do it all. I want to have my boys participate in everything academically and physically so that they are well-rounded. Reflecting back on my own childhood, I didn't grow up with a lot of money. Both my parents were immigrants from Vietnam and worked very hard and they instilled very early on that education is so important.  I remember countless times my mom would take my sisters and I to the library or did free classes in our community. We did not have much money to do any enrichment classes such as piano or any sports classes but I remember how happy we were to get to spend time with my parents. My point to this story is it's okay not to do it all. I feel like in today's society we get so caught up on doing everything for our kids. I feel the pressure to have our kids succeed they need to be good in sports, academically but we never stop to think about our child's emotional needs as well.  I'm learning to let go and really pick and choose activities that my kids will love and really focus on their emotional needs.

I'm also learning a lot of self-care and self-love. It's not selfish to take care of YOU and put your needs first. When you are happy it becomes a domino effect to your kids and family. I challenge you for Mother's Day to do something just for YOURSELF and not feel guilty for doing so. Not only do you deserve it, but you will be recharged for yourself and your family will benefit from it too. Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate each and one of YOU. I also know that the holidays can be hard for some of us too, I'm thinking of you and know that you are loved.
